Red Journey 2017 collects some 30,000 blood units
PANO – The “Red Journey 2017” blood donation program, took place on July 25 in Hai Duong, the last destination of this year’s program, collected more than 800 blood units from 1,000 local donors, mostly youths.

The participants and program’s volunteers also joined a parade to highlight the significance of blood donation and visited some historical relics in the province.
Launched on July 1, the “Red Journey 2017” program received around 30,000 units of blood donated by youths and people in 27 provinces and cities across the country.
Attending the event, Nguyen Van Thoan, President of the provincial Red Cross Chapter, highlighted the practical initiative to raise people’s awareness of the importance of blood donation, so as to strengthen the movement nationwide. Held annually in July, the program is among practical activities to ease blood shortage in summer, give hope to patients, and raise people’s awareness of thalassemia and other congenital and hereditary diseases
