Project on sending young doctors to poor districts launched in Hanoi
PANO - The Personnel Department under the Ministry of Health (MOH) held a press conference on June 22 to announce a project on sending young doctors to work in poor districts.
According to Head of the department Pham Van Tac, 78 young doctors have been sent to work in 37 poor localities in 13 provinces, including mountainous and border areas and on islands since June, 2017.
Earlier, the young doctors received an intensive training program in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, orthopedic surgery, and aesthetics.

For three years, the MOH and the Hanoi Medical University have selected 78 doctors and organized five intensive training courses.
Currently, the public health system in disadvantaged areas is inadequate in terms of facilities, medical equipment, and especially personnel. It is estimated that impoverished districts need about 600 doctors. Therefore, the project was approved by the MOH in 2013 to give priority to 62 poorest districts with the aim of improving medical services in these localities.
The MOH will hold a ceremony on June 28 to send seven young doctors to Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province.
