The annual press awards have been organized since 2012 with an aim to improve the effectiveness of information dissemination on traffic safety and to raise people’s awareness of and enhance the local authorities’ role in ensuring traffic order and safety.

This year’s event received 954 entries from 50 press agencies nationwide. Notably, the entries closely follow the theme of the 2019 Traffic Safety Year, particularly “Traffic safety for passengers and motor riders.”

The organizers handed over 32 prizes including two first, five second, ten third, and 15 consolation prizes to individuals and three collective prizes to three press agencies.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh praised contributions of press agencies and reporters to the national efforts to reducing traffic accidents.

He noted that all winning works have vividly reflected emerging issues in the transport sector and contributed to raising awareness of traffic participants.

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister then called on the press to pay more attention to clarifying causes of traffic accidents and proposing appropriate policies for management agencies.

On this occasion, the National Committee for Traffic Safety also launched the 2020 National Press Awards on Traffic Safety under the theme of “When drink alcohol, do not drive.”
