The organizing panel presenting awards

The competition was launched by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in association with the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Journalists Association in January 2017.

The organizing panel received more than 300 entries from individuals and groups from central and local press agencies. The articles featured a wide range of socio-economic issues related to poverty reduction, building new-style rural areas, especially at the grassroots level.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Hue officially launched the press competition on the poverty reduction effort in 2018 and also asked journalists and media agencies to continue participating in the competition in 2018 as well as subsequent years, contributing to the national effort to achieve sustainable poverty reduction goals set by the State and Party.

During the event, one A, five B, eight C, and ten consolation prizes were presented to the winners. The only A prize went to a group of journalists from the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) for their radio program on poverty reduction policies and activities.
