Over VND 4.5 billion raised for children with heart diseases
PANO – It’s been 60 days since its launching and more than VND 4.5 billion (USD 193,826) has been raised for poor children with heart diseases through a text message campaign.
The program, organized by the Vietnam Television (VTV) and the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 on November 1, has received the most amount of money donated to the “Heart for Children” program through text messages during the program’s 11-year history.
The money will be used to fund surgery for poor children with congenital heart diseases under 16 years old nationwide.
Earlier, the program coordinated with the Vietnam Red Cross Society to implement text messaging campaigns in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Accordingly, more than VND 15 billion (USD 647,295) was raised through these campaigns to help nearly 600 children nationwide.
The “Heart for Children” program was launched in 2008 and has been supported by the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), Tam Long Viet (Vietnamese Heart) Fund, and the Vietnam Television. Up to now, the program has funded surgery for nearly 5,200 children with heart diseases across the country.
