Nearly 1,000 youths join “I love my motherland” journey in Ca Mau
PANO - The 2019 “I love my motherland” journey with the participation of 1,000 members of the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF) started in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on October 13.
At the journey-launching ceremony at the Dat Mui historical relic site jointly held by the VYF Central Committee, Vietjet Aviation Joint-stock Company and Thanh nien (Youth) Newspaper, the participants arranged themselves in the shape of Vietnam and sang the national anthem and the federation’s song.
Also at the event, the organizing panel presented 100 national flags to local fishermen and presented the torch of the journey to Ho Chi Minh City.

Afterwards, delegates and participating youths lit local roads, organized a sea clean-up, and planted mangroves in the areas between Rach Tau Bridge and Rach Vam Bridge in Dat Mui commune. They also toured the Ca Mau Cape tourist site and experienced the cultural space of Don ca tai tu Nam Bo (Southern amateur singing) at the site.
The “I love my motherland” journey is a VYF’s key activity in celebrating the eighth national congress of the VYF for the 2019-2024 period and in realizing the “I love my motherland” movement. The ongoing journey has practical, and creative activities to draw the participation of thousands of youths nationwide.
The VYF Central Committee hoped that the journey will encourage young generations to bring into full play their vanguard spirit, creativity, and patriotism to learn more about national tradition, as well as to contribute to national socio-economic development and national construction and protection causes.
The next destinations of the journey will be in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang city and the provinces of Nghe An, Khanh Hoa, Dien Bien, and Ha Giang.
A meeting to review the journey will be held in Hanoi on December 10 on the eve of the eighth VYF national congress.
