* The Nhan dan (People) Newspaper, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), and the Quang Tri province co-organized an artistic program “Aspirations for national reunification” at the southern bank of the Hien Luong-Ben Hai River Special National Historical Relic Site in Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province, on the evening of April 29.
Present at the event were Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Head of the Commission for Internal Affairs of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Phan Dinh Trac, Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan dan Newspaper Thuan Huu, VNA Director General Nguyen Duc Loi, and Secretary of the Quang Tri provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Hung, as well as scores of local people and visitors.

At the program, artistic performances recalled the glorious day of April 30, 1975 when the Vietnamese liberation troops and people defeated the US-backed Saigon forces, liberating the South and reunifying the country.
The program was part of the “National Reunification” festival 2019 with a focus on evoking the national pride and patriotism and encouraging people to make greater contributions to the cause of national building and defense cause.
Also at the program, VNA Director General Nguyen Duc Loi handed over VND 1.8 billion to local authorities to build three classrooms at a kindergarten in Trieu Tai commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri. Meanwhile, the Nhan dan Newspaper and the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) granted VND 1 billion in cash to national contributors in the province.
* On the same day, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan led a mission to visit, inquire after and present gifts to former senior officials living in Districts 5 and 7, who had made contributions to the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
On this occasion, Nhan toured two apartment buildings at 56 Tran Hung Dao in District 1 and at 21-41 Tan Da in District 5, which have good models of processing liquid and solid wastes keeping the living environment clean, and well maintaining local social order.
The delegation also attended an artistic program to celebrate the National Reunification Day at Garden Mall Square in District 5 and inquired after Vietnamese Heroic Mother Huynh Thi Cuc in Tan Hung ward, District 7 on the occasion of her 99th birthday.

* The Tay Ninh provincial Military Command has sent delegations to visit and present gifts, worth VND 1-1.5 million each, to Vietnamese heroic mothers, holders of the title “Heroes of People's Armed Forces,” policy beneficiaries, and national contributors in the province.
Over the past time, the command has made recommendations for the local authorities to take good care of local policy beneficiaries in need.
