When it reached a location approximately 156 nautical miles Southeast of Vung Tau beach, one of the ship's crew-members met an accident. The captain of the vessel MSC Sveva decided to head towards Vung Tau while requesting assistance. Upon receiving this information, the Vietnam MRCC dispatched Ship SAR 272 for a rescue operation.

At around 5 a.m. on September 16, SAR 272 approached the vessel MSC Sveva, conducted initial medical care, and transferred the injured foreign sailor onto SAR 272. They promptly brought the victim ashore and handed him over to relevant authorities.
