Vietnam MRCC's personnel approaching the MAYASAN

Earlier, on May 24, the Vietnam MRCC was informed of a sailor with severe abdominal pain on MAYASAN, a crude oil tanker sailing under the flag of Panama, which was en route from the UAE to Japan.

At the time, the tanker was just 180 nautical mile to the east of Nha Trang city (Vietnam).

The Vietnamese center got the epidemiological information of the crew members and sent ship SAR27-01 with a medical team and relevant forces for a rescue mission.

The sailor, Del Valle Onilique Rosales, born in 1997, a native of the Philippines, was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and needed surgery immediately.

After receiving first aid at noon on May 25, the patient was taken to ship SAR27-01 for further care and sailed ashore for treatment. At 14:05 the same day, ship SAR27-01 safely anchored at Nha Trang port and the patient was handed over to local forces for surgery.
