HCM City friendship walk marks 80 years of Vietnamese diplomacy
Close to 2,000 participants joined a 2.5-kilometer friendship walk in Ho Chi Minh City on August 23 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnamese diplomatic service (August 28, 1945 – 2025).
The walk started on Le Duan street and ended at Ben Bach Dang Park, where the city’s International Friendship Symbol is located.

Addressing the event, Pham Dut Diem, Acting Director of the municipal Department of External Relations, said the activity provided not only an opportunity to encourage healthy lifestyles but also a moment to reflect on the proud legacy of Vietnam’s diplomacy and the city’s outstanding external relations achievements.
He stressed that over the past eight decades, diplomacy has remained at the forefront of national defense and development. Its achievements, he noted, embody the creativity, resilience, and solidarity of the Vietnamese people, underpinning the country’s deeper international integration and growing prestige on the world stage.
