First river bus in Ho Chi Minh City to be operational on November 25
The first-ever river bus route in Ho Chi Minh City will be put into operation on November 25 with the hope of easing road traffic loads.
A representative from Thuong Nhat company –
the investor of the project revealed the information on November 20.
The company launched and conducted
technical operation in August this year. It is now finalizing technical
inspection of safety and evaluation of passengers’ demands.
Main stations of the first route such as
Bach Dang and Linh Dong have been connected with the city’s bus network to
facilitate the movement of city dwellers.
Thuong Nhat company has proposed connecting
the river bus route with electric ones to tourist destinations, hotels and
museums across the city.
The proposal has been approved by the
municipal Department of Transport and is submitted to the municipal People’s
Committee and the Ministry of Transport.
The river bus route, which is 10.8 km long,
connects Bach Dang wharf in District 1 with Linh Dong ward in Thu Duc district
with one-way tickets priced at VND 15,000 (USD 0.66).
The second route will be 10.3 km connecting
Bach Dang wharf with Lo Gom area in District 6.
