Festival on defense and security education kicked off
PANO - The 2nd Defense and Security Education Festival for high school students across the country was kicked off in Hanoi on April 17 by the Ministry of Education and Training, the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, the Hanoi Capital Command, and the municipal Department of Education and Training.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga emphasized the necessity to raise young people’s awareness of and responsibility for national defense and equip them with basic knowledge about national defense and security, so as to train a contingent of high quality manpower to meet the requirements of national defense missions in the current context.
He added that the four-day contest aims to seek the best individuals and groups as well as is a chance to honor those who have made contributions to strengthening the movements of studying defense and security knowledge among schools nationwide.
This year’s contest gathers 500 students from 56 provinces and cities across the country. They will compete in 11 categories, including political knowledge, line-up regulations, rifle assembly, AK sub-machine gun shooting lesson 1, and more.
Apart from competitions, the participants will have a chance to take part in cultural and artistic and sporting events.
