At a conference held on December 29 to review the three-year implementation of the project, the provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs announced that the province has set up 22 clubs and mobilized a total of 23 billion VND (1.01 million USD) to take care of, educate and protect underprivileged children.

The project has benefited nearly 20,900 children, of whom all are provided with health insurance cards, nearly 1,500 receive monthly allowances and more than 100 are brought up at the Social Protection Centre and non-public social protection establishments.

The province is striving to assist 95 percent of children living in extremely difficult circumstances by 2020.

To that end, it will continue considering child care as a task of local administrations, schools, families and the entire society.

Child care will be included in the locality’s socio-economic development plans, and legal documents related to child care and protection will be completed.

On this occasion, 18 outstanding units and individuals who had contributions to child care in Bac Lieu were honored.
