PANO - A stretch of Road 2/9 connecting precinct 2 and Vinh Long City was renamed after Vo Van Kiet at a renaming ceremony on November 22nd by Vinh Long province, as part of activities to mark the 90th birthday of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet and the 72nd anniversary of South Vietnam’s Uprising Day.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Vice President Truong My Hoa and Mrs. Phan Luong Cam, late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet’s wife, attended the event.

The 6,416-metre Vo Van Kiet road, with total investment of over VND 1.062 billion, includes four lanes and is beautified with tiled pavements, streetlights and trees.

The project, a token of gratitude of Vinh Long’s Party Committee and its people to the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, will meet increasing demand for travel and trading activities of local people, as well as help improve the urban road system in Vinh Long City.
