Writing in the commemoration book at the relic site, President Phuc described the youths as representatives of young people in the Ho Chi Minh era who undauntedly dedicated their lives for the sake of the Fatherland, and that they are forever brilliant symbols of the revolutionary heroism of the country.

On the same day, the President visited and presented gifts to ethnic minority people and disadvantaged families in Bo Trach district.

State President offers incense in commemoration of heroes, martyrs in Quang Binh.

He noted the Party and State acknowledge local ethnic minority groups’ great contribution to the resistance war, expressing his hope that they will bring into play their self-reliance to escape poverty, develop livelihoods, and improve their living standards, thereby contributing to the local development.

Later, President Phuc attended the launch of projects to upgrade Road 20 Quyet Thang and expand the power grid in Bo Trach district’s Tan Trach and Thuong Trach communes.

The construction of the 125km-long road, running from Xuan Son Ferry Terminal in Quang Binh province to LumBum T-junction in Laos, started on January 21, 1966 and opened on May 31 of the same year. It was a major road linking eastern and western areas of the Truong Son (Annamite) Mountain Range. During wartime, the enemy attacked key locations on the road to prevent Vietnam from sending reinforcements to the front line.

Meanwhile, the 52km-long power grid upgrade project will provide electricity to all households in Quang Binh province, facilitating the local socio-economic development.
