Themed “Vietnamese press accompanies the nation in the renewal process,” this year’s event attracted 59 units under the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) and its branches, journalism training institutes, and companies specializing in press equipment, with a total of 73 booths.
Visiting the booths of the central press agencies, President Quang highly lauded the Vietnam Journalists’ Association for their close collaboration with relevant agencies, such as the Party Central Committee's Commission for Education and Information; the Ministry of Information and Communications; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee for successfully organizing the National Press Festival in 2018.
He stressed the significant contributions of press agencies to the national development over the past year, particularly in covering major national events and activities in every aspect of life. He noted that the press agencies have made great efforts to overcome hardships, improve the quality of contents, and diversify the press types in response to Industry 4.0. Apart from that, they also promoted outstanding examples and models, contributed to preventing corruption, wastefulness, and degradation in political ideology, morality and lifestyle, and to fighting against hostiles' expedients and schemes, he added.
The State President also hoped that the Vietnam Journalists’ Association would continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to hold more national press festivals, contributing to developing the national revolutionary press to deserve the trust of the Party, the State as well as readers at home and abroad.
On this occasion, the organizing board handed over 55 prizes to press agencies for their Tet (Lunar New Year Festival) publications’ attractive covers, 58 prizes for the participating booths with impressive decoration, and 51 awards for environmentally-related documentaries, 20 similar awards to good Tet television programs, among others.
The People’s Army Newspaper received the A prize for the nice cover of its Tet publications, and two consolation prize for good reports and photos related to the environment.
Notably, the organizers also granted awards to outstanding press research works for the first time, besides traditional prizes. All press publications on display at the festival will be handed over to troops of the Vietnam People’s Navy.
