At the event, participants together recalled glorious feats-of-arms and contributions of those who sacrificed themselves during the fight and had exchanges with veterans and relatives of fallen soldiers who had directly engaged in the fight to protect the Northern border.

Speaking at the meeting, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man expressed deep gratitude to those who sacrificed themselves to protect the national border and affirmed that the Party, State and people will always bear in mind the great sacrifices and contributions of troops and people to the protection of Northern border. He also talked about his admiration for the indomitable spirit of former fighters with serious wounds and sicknesses who have for decades tried their best to overcome difficulties and strive for a better life and contribute to the development of their hometowns in particular and the nation in general.

He affirmed that over the past years, policies for national contributors of the Party and State have been comprehensively and effectively implemented by military units, organizations and whole society. Meanwhile, military and civilian units have paid due attention to searching, collecting and verifying remains of fallen soldiers.

Man hoped that Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and relevant agencies and units will promote gratitude activities, foster dissemination and education on the revolutionary cause, and continue implementing policies for national contributors to ensure that they will benefit from the policies in line with the regulations and laws.

The same day, delegates paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.
