General Staff meets with former soldiers
PANO - The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army held a get-together on August 28 for its former officers in the Southern region in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of its 72nd founding anniversary (September 7, 1945 - 2017) under the chair of Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister.
General Le Van Dung, former member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, former Director of the General Department for Politics of Vietnam People’s Army (VPA); Senior Lieutenant-General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff; and former officers of the General Staff attended the event.
Speaking at the event, General Giang expressed his deep gratitude to former officers of the unit as well as national contributors. He emphasized that the whole unit strictly observed the Party's guidelines and State's policies and provided recommendations for the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense. Especially, since the beginning of this year, the General Staff has attached much importance to improving training and exercise quality as well as taking effective measures in implementing military disciplines and regulations. He hoped that unit’s former officers would continue contributing to the development of the General Staff for the cause of national construction and defense in the new context.
On this occasion, the General Staff also organized various meaningful activities, such as “return-to-the-roots” visits, exhibitions, exchanges and sport activities.
