A special Vietnam Discovery Day will take place on September 7 in the Scottish capital Edinburgh.

The Vietnamese Embassy in the UK has received assistance from Edinburgh authorities and the Vietnamese community in Scotland to organise the event, which will take place in St. Andrew’s Park and include activities such as artistic performances and chances to sample Vietnamese food.

The event is one of many activities being organised to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the UK.

According to Tran Kien, Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese Students at Glasgow University, preparation for the event has been very effective thanks to the enthusiastic participation of Vietnamese students studying in the UK.

Kien said this is the first time Vietnamese students in Scotland have had an opportunity to help organise a national cultural event promoting their homeland and its people.
