When he was a child, Khanh enjoyed watching films and listening to stories from veterans, learning about the heroic history of the nation. This sparked his dream of becoming a soldier. When he was in secondary school, Khanh decided to pursue his dream of enrolling in the Military Technical Academy. In 2018, his dream came true, and the joy was doubled when he was selected to attend a preparatory course for studying abroad.
In September 2019, after a year of studying and training at the Military Technical Academy with outstanding results, Khanh was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam at the age of 19 and was sent by the Ministry of National Defense to study for a bachelor’s degree in Russia, specializing in the design and electronic technology.
Khanh recalled that on the first days in Russia, he faced many challenges in adapting to the living environment and studying far from home. However, thanks to the help, encouragement, and shared experience from Vietnamese military alumni and the care from the management agencies, he gradually adjusted to the learning environment and successfully completed the Russian language preparatory course.
After five years, Khanh successfully completed his undergraduate studies with an impressive record. In addition to his excellent bachelor’s degree, Khanh won a first prize in the university’s Olympic electricity competition. He had one article published in the university's journal, two articles presented at conferences, and one article published in a specialized journal in the VAK category. Due to his outstanding academic and research achievements, the Vietnamese military student has received several awards, such as the Russian Government Scholarship in 2023, the Russian Federation Presidential Scholarship in 2024, and a prestigious scholarship for a master’s program through the Russian Federation’s inter-governmental agreement in 2024.
Colonel Ha Manh Thanh, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation and Military Student Management Division of the Military Technical Academy, said that Khanh’s successes have created positive impression about the talent and intelligence of Vietnamese military students in the eyes of international friends, bringing pride and honor to the Military Technical Academy.
In recognition of his efforts in studying and training, the Military Technical Academy awarded Khanh the “Soldier of the Year” title for the 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 academic years and recommended the Ministry of National Defense to award him a Certificate of Merit for his excellent completion of the officer training course at the undergraduate level abroad in 2024.
