* From July 22 to 27, the Naval Region 3 Command’s affiliates, in coordination with localities where they are stationed, cleaned up and upgraded war cemeteries and memorial monuments with nearly 200 working days; offered incense and lit candles at war cemeteries, relic sites, and memorial houses.

Meanwhile, the unit also sent delegations to present 70 gifts, worth more than VND 450 million, to war veterans and martyrs’ relatives and national contributors in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, and Da Nang city.

* A delegation of Military Region 5 (MR5) just offered gifts to staff at the Quang Ngai provincial Convalescent Center for Wounded Soldiers and national contributors there.

Authorized by the Central Military Commission (CMC), the Ministry of National Defense, MR5 handed over gifts of the CMC and Ministry of National Defense to the center and national contributors.

On the occasion, the delegation offered incense and paid tribute to war martyrs, inquired after and granted gifts to policy households in Duc Hiep commune, Mo Duc district, Quang Ngai province; and 20 wheelchairs to policy beneficiaries and national contributors in Duc Hiep commune.

* The Thua Thien Hue provincial Military Command has just held a groundbreaking ceremony of a gratitude house built for war martyr’s relatives.

During the event, the unit handed over VND 80 million to Le Thi Hien, war martyr Vuong Ao’s wife, in Huong Chu ward, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province, and handed over gifts of Military Region 4 to the recipient.

* On July 27, in Thanh Hoa province, the Military Medical University handed over a “Great Unity” house to Do Van Hoa and Nguyen Van Thanh’s families who are in Cam Tan commune, Cam Thuy district, Thanh Hoa province. On this occasion, the university, in coordination with the locality, offered 20 gifts to local policy and needy households.

* The same day, in Tan Binh commune, Tan Bien district, Tay Ninh province, Regiment 271 under Division 5, Military Region 7, in coordination with the Liaison Board of veterans of Regiment 271, held a ceremony to inaugurate a memorial house dedicated to war martyrs Ta Sang.

The one-year long construction was built on an area of 144 square meters, worth nearly VND 3.5 billion, extracted from the troops’ donation. The construction is to pay tribute to 277 troops of the regiment who sacrificed their lives in Sa Tang on February 19, 1972 during the national resistance war against the U.S. invaders.

* Regiment 726 of Corps 16, in coordination with local athorities of Quang Truc commune, Tuy Duc district, Dak Nong province, and other units, handed over 30 gifts, worth VND 500,000 each, to policy households.

On the occasion, doctors of the regiment’s medical infirmary instructed local people on how to prevent normal diseases and provided them with free medicines.

* In Krong Na commune, Buon Don district, the Dak Lak provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs organized a ceremony to start upgrading and renovating martyrs’ monuments in Se Re Pok Border Post. The construction costs nearly VND 2 billion.

During the ceremony, the Dak Lak provincial Public Security Department presented a “Uncle Ho and border guards” monument to troops of Ea H’leo Border Post, worth VND 400 million.

The units also inquired after, encouraged, and offered more than 50 gifts, worth totally more than 45 million, to national contributors in the border areas.

* Center 386 of Command 86, in coordination with the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), handed over two “Great unity” houses, worth totally VND 100 million; and presented gifts, totally worth nearly VND 40 million, to relatives of war martyrs and veterans in Quang Nam province and Da Nang city. The unit also conducted “return-to-the-root” activities to pay tribute to war martyrs.
