PANO - The whole army units have carried out an array of programs to care for policy beneficiaries and needy people in localities nationwide to mark the 67th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27th).

* A mission of the Policy Department, under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, visited Thanh Hoa provincial convalescent centre and presented gifts worth VND 140 million to local war invalids and sick soldiers.

* The Signal Arm gave 150 gifts to seriously ill officers and those who had rendered good service to the nation, and joined localities in offering incense to martyrs at 49 cemeteries.

* Cadres and soldiers of Army Corps 1 donated over VND 1.3 billion to its gratitude fund to build 13 houses for policy beneficiaries, contributed 300 working days and VND 20 million to upgrade local martyrs’ cemeteries, provided free health check-ups for nearly 600 needy people, and visited several convalescent centres.

* On July 25th, the General Department of Logistics and the Military Command of Tu Son town in Bac Ninh province handed over a VND 90 million house to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi May. Of which, the unit’s troops contributed VND 70 million.

Previously, leaders of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province visited and inquired after heroic Vietnamese mothers and martyrs’ relatives in the locality.

* The Youth Union Central Committee in association with the Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee offered 30 scholarships to students with good academic records of local policy beneficiaries.

* The Trade Union Board of Military Zone 7 also visited and presented gifts to its officers who are under treatment at Military Hospital 7A and others with fatal diseases.

* Troops of Naval Region 3 inquired after beneficiaries and heroic Vietnamese mothers in Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue provinces and the Da Nang city’s conveslecent centre, and beautified and offered incense at martyrs’ cemeteries in areas where they are stationed.

* Between July 21st and 24th, the Naval Academy sent missions to provide health check-ups for people in Khanh Hoa province, give gifts to needy people and inquire after local heroic Vietnamese mothers.

* On July 25th, the Editorial Board of the People’s Army Newspaper held a get-together for its 24 reporters who are relatives of martyrs and war invalids.

* The Dong Nai provincial Martyr Families Support Association inaugurated a house for Mrs. Nguyen Thi Khau, a martyr’s mother, in Phu An commune, Tan Phu district. Earlier, the association handed over two other houses for veteran Nguyen Van No and heroic Vietnamese mother Tran Thi Ngoc in Long Khanh town, and presented gifts to 40 war invalids and sick soldiers in Thong Nhat district.

* The Binh Thuan provincial Military Command on July 25th visited local heroic Vietnamese mothers and those who had rendered good service to the nation.

* The same day, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan led a delegation to visit heroic Vietnamese mothers Luong Thi Mai and Nguyen Thi Thi in Tan Binh district. As revealed, the city spent VND 32 billion to present gifts to local policy beneficiaries on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day.

* Staff of Nguyen Hue University on July 25th has mobilized VND 1.5 billion to build 9 houses for needy people.

* Division 370 of the Air Defence and Air Force Service and the Garment One-member Co. Ltd. No7 of Military Zone 7 offered gifts to needy households, heroic Vietnamese mothers, war invalids and martyrs’ relatives in localities where they are stationed.

* Military Hospital 105 of the General Department of Logistics of the Vietnam People’s Army presented free check-ups and medicines to policy beneficiaries in Son Tay town, Hanoi, and inquired after 16 heroic Vietnamese mothers.
