Special boards of Gia Lai and Preah Vihear provinces sign a collaboration deal at the event.

During the discussion, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich expressed her gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the local authorities and people of Preah Vihear province over the past 21 years, which has allowed Search and Collection Team K52 under the Gia Lai provincial Military Command to successfully locate and collect remains of 516 Vietnamese martyrs.

The Vietnamese official expressed her hope that Preah Vihear province would continue to support and provide additional information to help Team K52 pinpoint the burial sites, especially in the areas bordering Thailand, and facilitate the search and collection of martyrs' remains during the 2023-2024 dry season. Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich also wished for the enduring solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the strong bond between Gia Lai and Preah Vihear provinces.

For his part, Deputy Governor of Cambodia’s Preah Vihear province Yong Keam Hean stressed that the task of searching for and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese martyrs is a shared responsibility of the Cambodian government and its people in general, and Preah Vihear province in particular. According to the coordination plan for the 2023-2024 dry season, the Special Board of Preah Vihear province will assign personnel to support Team K52 of Gia Lai province during the process of searching, collecting, and repatriating the remains of martyrs to Vietnam.

The Head of the Special Board of Preah Vihear province emphasized that the prosperity of Cambodia today is indebted to the significant assistance provided by the Vietnam People's Army, particularly the volunteer soldiers and advisors from Vietnam.

During this visit, the Special Board of Gia Lai province handed over USD 13,000 from the Vietnamese Government to support the Special Board of Preah Vihear province in their efforts to search for and collect Vietnamese martyrs' remains during the 2023-2024 dry season.

Earlier, on October 31, the Gia Lai provincial delegation held discussions with the Special Boards of Cambodian provinces of Ratanakiri and Stung Treng to agree on the 2023-2024 dry season plan for searching, collecting, and repatriating remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed in Cambodia.

As part of the overall plan, from November 22, 2023, to May 31, 2024, Team K52 of the Gia Lai provincial Military Command will deploy its forces to search for and collect remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors in three Northeastern provinces of Cambodia.
