Veteran female drivers visit the Vietnamese Women’s Museum.

At the meeting, delegates recalled traditions of heroic female drivers on the legendary Truong Son trail.

In December 1968, the first female drivers from depots H1 and H2 were assigned to transport goods to other warehouses and stations. The need for transporting military supplies for the southern battlefield became more urgent than ever. Therefore, a 45-day training course was opened for 35 female drivers and technicians. Concluding the course, they received tasks to transport goods and soldiers from the rear to the front-line and carry wounded soldiers from battlefields to the rear.

The images of female drivers braving difficulties and risks to cross many dangerous places heavily bombed by the U.S. air force increased the motivation for male drivers to fulfill all assigned missions.
