The meeting was chaired by General Ngo Xuan Lich, member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister, and participated in by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics.
The Company of Truong Son female drivers, developed from a platoon of female drivers named after Hero of the People's Armed Forces Nguyen Thi Hanh, was established on December 18, 1968. Over the past 50 years, all veteran female drivers have maintained the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers, well implemented the Party's guidelines and State policies and laws, and actively contributed to socio-economic development in their localities.

In 2014, the Company was presented with the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces,” and its leader Phung Thi Vien was posthumously rewarded with the noble title.
Speaking at the meeting, General Ngo Xuan Lich praised the great contribution of the female drivers to the resistance war against US imperialists and to the current national construction and defense cause.
He also affirmed that the Party, the State, the military and the people never forget the precious contribution of heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, national contributors, especially Truong Son female drivers, who sacrificed their youth and lives for the freedom and independence of the country.
On the occasion, the Minister assigned the Department of Policy and the Military Women's Board under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, in association with the Liaison Board of the Company of Truong Son female drivers, to promptly support accommodations for needy veteran female drivers and organize comprehensive medical examination at the Central Military Hospital 108 for all veteran female drivers.
