Team K93 head Colonel Nguyen Van Xuyen stated that the six sets of remains were discovered during search operations conducted from May 4 to 8. He emphasized that this was a highly encouraging result, rewarding the team’s years of perseverance in tracing information, connecting clues, and conducting hundreds of field surveys in coordination with the Specialized Committee of Kampong Speu province.

Personnel of Team K93 are determined to locate and gather martyrs’ remains.

According to Col. Xuyen, based on archival records and information provided by war veterans and local residents, the remains were initially identified as those of Vietnamese soldiers from the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists for national salvation. Due to the long burial period, very few belongings remained. However, evidence such as military uniform buttons, rubber wrappings around the remains, and nylon fabric indicated that the remains belonged to Vietnamese soldiers.

Team K93 and the Cambodian Specialized Committee are coordinating to expand search operations in the area, determined not to overlook any information or clues regarding burial sites of fallen soldiers.

During the 2025-2026 dry season, Team K93 has recovered a total of 65 sets of martyrs’ remains. Of these, 15 sets were recovered in Vietnam’s An Giang province, including one identified set, while 50 sets were collected in Cambodia.

Through this effort, the Chain-of-Command of Team K93 expressed hope that veterans, military units, and local residents who have information related to combat units or burial sites of fallen troops would continue providing information to the Department of Policy and Social Affairs under the General Department of Political Affairs - the Office of the National Steering Committee 515, located at 38A Ly Nam De Street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi or email chinhsachquandoi@gmail.com.
