At the ceremony to repatriate remains of U.S. servicemen missing in action (MIA) in the war in Vietnam, the 165th of its kind

On this occasion, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc received U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns, affirming that Vietnam cooperates with the U.S. in search for missing U.S. soldiers’ remains from the war in Vietnam in the spirit of humanity, putting the past aside and looking forward the future.

At the same time, he also stressed that Vietnam welcomes the U.S. to strengthen cooperation in settling war legacy in Vietnam, while underlining that promoting cooperation in this field contributes to healing the war’s wounds so as to build trust and expand cooperation in many other fields.

For his part, Susan Burns thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for helping the U.S. side in this field. She also held that the U.S. Government is committed to supporting Vietnam in settling war legacy, especially in completely cleaning up dioxin contamination at Bien Hoa Airport and transferring DNA examination technology for verifying Vietnamese martyrs’ remains.
