Delivering the eulogy, Chairman of the Tuyen Quang provincial People’s Committee Phan Huy Ngoc emphasized that the ceremony is a meaningful activity to mark the 79th anniversary of the Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs’ Day, reflecting the nation’s tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source.”
After more than three months of dedicated efforts, functional forces have collected the remains of 34 martyrs (including 16 individual remains and four mass graves containing 18 remains). Among them, one set of remains belongs to a martyr in the national resistance war against the French invaders. The remains were discovered in caves, deep ravines, and old combat trenches in Thanh Thuy, Minh Tan, and Ban May communes, former key battlegrounds in the fight to protect the Northern border.
The provincial chairman affirmed that Tuyen Quang will continue to coordinate efforts to step up the search, collection, and identification of martyrs’ remains while improving care for national contributors and their relatives.
Following a minute of silence, the casket-moving ritual was solemnly conducted. Officers and soldiers carried the national flag-draped coffins on their shoulders to the burial area to the solemn tune of “Souls of the Fallen Martyrs.”

At the burial site, the lowering and burial rites were performed in accordance with military protocols. The coffins were sequentially laid to rest alongside their comrades at Vi Xuyen National War Cemetery.
After the burial rites, delegates and locals took turns offering incense, dropping farewell flowers, showing gratitude to the outstanding individuals who devoted their youth to the country’s independence and freedom.
