During the event, Major General Nguyen Huu Ngoc, Commander of Corps 12, posthumously handed over the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title to the family of Sergeant Nguyen Luong Dinh. The title showed the recognition and the care of the Party and State for his great contribution.

Sergeant Nguyen Luong Dinh was born on August 8, 1949, in Hai Dinh ward, Dong Hoi town, Quang Binh province (now Dong Hai ward, Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province). He lived in Group 13, Trung Liet ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi.

On July 14, 1968, he joined the military and became a soldier of Battalion 24 of the Hanoi Capital Command. At the end of 1968, he was assigned to Battalion 668, Pipeline Regiment 592, Truong Son Command. During the fight on the Truong Son battlefield, Sergeant Nguyen Luong Dinh devoted himself to accomplishing all assigned missions, becoming a bright example for his comrades. When peace was restored, he returned to normal life. In spite of difficult conditions, he always upheld the good virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers while strictly observing the locality’s regulations and keeping a good relationship with other people.

With his great contribution to the military’s revolutionary cause and construction, Sergeant Nguyen Luong Dinh was conferred with the second-class Feat-of-Arms Order, second-class War Resistance Order, and other noble awards.

Moreover, on October 17, 2023, the State President signed a decision to posthumously present the title “Hero of People’s Armed Forces” to Sergeant Nguyen Luong Dinh for his brave sacrifice in the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists.
