This is the 20th such campaign launched so far by the province’s steering board for search, repatriation and identification of martyrs’ remains.

The campaign for the 2019 – 2020 dry season features the engagement of 67 officers and soldiers who will be divided into three groups to carry out the work in Preah Vihear, Stung Treng and Ratanakiri provinces of Cambodia.

Vice Chairwoman of the Gia Lai People’s Committee Huynh Nu Thu Ha, who is also head of the province’s steering board, said the search for and repatriation of martyrs’ remains are becoming increasingly difficult due to terrain changes and the decomposition of remains as time goes by.

Therefore, the search and repatriation team needs to have high resolve and sense of responsibility while optimizing the wholehearted support from residents and authorities in the Cambodian localities to perform the task.

Since its search and repatriation efforts began in 2001, Gia Lai has brought home remains of 1,412 martyrs from Cambodia.
