The memorial service took place in a solemn and emotional atmosphere amidst the mountainous region of Ha Giang. IThe leader of Vi Xuyen district emphasized the resilience and indomitable spirit of officers and soldiers who fought and sacrificed to defend every high point, every hill, and every cliff along the shared borderline, with the resolve “not an inch left, not a single step back,” and “living on stone to fight the enemy, dying as stone, immortal.” Reportedly, over 4,000 soldiers heroically fell on the Vi Xuyen battlefield, most of them at young age.
