According to Truong Cong Ba, aged 40, a resident of H’Ngo Village in Cu Pui Commune, about 20 years ago, in the Chu Yang Sin mountain range, he accidentally discovered a notebook inside Cu Ju cave containing records of battles fought by Vietnamese revolutionary forces in the area. As he was still deep in the forest at the time, he decided to leave the notebook where he had found it instead of taking it with him.

Based on this information, over the past two weeks, a task force from Team K51, led by Senior Colonel Do Van Thieu, Political Commissar of the team, conducted surveys and expanded the search for the remains of fallen soldiers inside Cu Ju cave.
The cave is located high in the mountains and features numerous narrow passages, and slippery moss-covered surfaces, making the search extremely challenging. After several days of searching, the team finally discovered the remains of a fallen soldier on August 6. The remains, consisting of long bones and bone fragments, were found near another cave entrance on the opposite side of the Chu Yang Sin mountain range. The search team also recovered a number of personal artifacts from inside the cave, including a metal bowl, two bottles of medicated oil, uniform buttons, a sewing kit, a gasoline lighter, and others.

Team K51 collected samples and transferred the remains to the management board of the Krong Bong War Cemetery in Dak Lak Province, where they will be kept pending a memorial and burial service to be organized by local authorities.
Col. Thieu said that in the coming period, Team K51 will continue surveying and searching caves across the Cu Ju mountain area. He also called on veterans and local people who participated in or supported wartime operations, or who once lived in the area, to provide information and relevant documents to assist in the continued search and recovery of the remains of fallen soldiers.
