Quang Ngai armed forces collect remains of two martyrs in Dak Pek commune

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Thuy, Deputy Political Officer of the Dak Pek commune Military Command, stated that they excavated over 15 cubic meters of soil and rock at suspected sites in 16-5 village on July 30.

The newly discovered set of remains was wrapped in multiple layers, including parachute fabric, a hammock, a mosquito net, and a blanket. However, the majority of the bones had decomposed.

Earlier, on July 29, a search team of 15 officers and soldiers scouted Dak Xanh and 16-5 villages, excavating more than 10.8 cubic meters of soil. During the work, the force discovered and exhumed a relatively intact set of remains wrapped in a raincoat, accompanied by a pair of military canvas shoes in Dak Xanh village.

Both sets of martyrs’ remains have been brought to the Dak Pek commune Military Command’s headquarters for worship. Upon completing the required procedures, the remains will be handed over and buried in accordance with regulations.

The Dak Pek commune Military Command hopes to receive further information from veterans and locals regarding potential burial sites. This will help enhance the efficiency of search and collection efforts, bringing the fallen soldiers back to their hometowns and families after years of resting on battlefield.
