Earlier, while fishing near a stream in Ea Hiao Commune, Dak Lak Province, Nay Y Luy (born in 1986, residing in Cham village, Ea Hiao Commune) discovered a large metal object protruding from the ground. Recognizing the potential danger, he promptly reported the incident to local authorities.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Military Command of Ea Hiao Commune quickly deployed militia forces and coordinated with relevant agencies to secure and isolate the site.

At the location, near the stream bank and adjacent farmland, the bomb was found partially exposed, protruding approximately 60 centimeters above the ground. To ensure safety, functional forces erected warning signs, organized guard posts, and issued public notices through local information channels.

Preliminary examination identified the object as an unexploded bomb dropped by the U.S. military during the war. The bomb measured 1.2 meters in length and weighed 334 kilograms. Despite having been buried underground for more than half a century, it still posed a serious explosion risk if subjected to external impact.

The Engineering Board, in coordination with the Defensive Area Command Region 2 – Krong Buk and the Military Command of Ea Hiao Commune, developed and implemented a plan to relocate the bomb to a designated disposal site. With a high sense of responsibility and strict adherence to safety procedures, officers and soldiers carefully transported the bomb from the stream area to a remote location far from residential zones for disposal in accordance with technical regulations.

The disposal operation was carried out using the on-site detonation method. Thanks to thorough preparation in terms of equipment and technical measures, the bomb was successfully detonated, ensuring absolute safety for personnel, equipment, and local residents’ property.
