At the meeting, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, General Giang delivered an important speech to highlight the sound leadership and direction of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh regarding the opening of the strategic road to transport supplies from the rear in the North to the frontline in the South.

He hailed contributions of previous generations of the Vietnamese people and military, particularly troops of Truong Son Army Corps, to the resistance war against US invaders for the liberation of the South and national reunification.

In his remarks, Major General Vo So, Chairman of the Association of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail of Vietnam recalled glorious traditions of the Truong Son soldiers. He revealed, the association was established in 2011, gathering those who are former volunteer youths and veterans working on the legendary trail in wartime.

On behalf of younger generations in the military, non-commissioned Senior Captain Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh from Army Corps 12 (the successor of Truong Son Army Corps) expressed deep gratitude towards the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and previous generations, and promised to further uphold traditions of the Truong Son soldiers in their task performances.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister  Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh handed over the first-class Fatherland Protection Order and the second-class Labor Order to Army Corps 12 and the Association of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail of Vietnam, respectively.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister granted national special relic certificates to recognize former stations on the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail in Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, and Binh Phuoc provinces.
