The conference was co-held by Tay Ninh provincial Steering Committee 515 for search, collection, repatriation and verification of fallen soldiers’ remains and Thboong Khmum province.

Accordingly, in the period, Tay Ninh provincial Steering Committee 515 considered the search and repatriation of martyrs’ remains of fallen Vietnamese volunteer soldiers one of its top political tasks.

The unit coordinated actively with Thboong Khmum province in conducting mass mobilization to raise local people’s awareness of the mission’s significance and seek support from local agencies and authorities.

As a result, in Tboong Khmum province alone, Tay Ninh Search and Collection Team K71 repatriated 1,129 sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers who had sacrificed themselves while doing the international service in Cambodia.

During the conference, many solutions, including defining responsibilities of both civilian and military agencies and units of Tay Ninh and Tboong Khmum provinces, promoting mass mobilization, expediting the identity verification of collected remains and improving equipment and tools of search and collection teams, were proposed to better the task implementation in the coming time.

Also on this occasion, on behalf of Tay Ninh province, Steering Committee 515 presented USD 13,000 to Tboong Khmum province and rewarded 10 units and 20 individuals of the Cambodian province for their effective coordination and assistance.

Earlier, from May 6 to 11, Tay Ninh provincial Steering Committee 515 in coordination with Siem Reap and Oddar Menchey provinces held a similar conference.

According to reports at the meeting, 838 and 62 sets of remains of Vietnamese martyrs were found in Siem Reap and Oddar Menchey, respectively, from 2001 to 2019.

All together, 2,029 sets of remains of Vietnamese martyrs were found from 2001 to 2019 in three provinces of Cambodia. Tay Ninh provincial Steering Committee 515 also presented USD 13,000 each to Siem Reap and Oddar Menchey and rewarded 20 units and 40 individuals of the two provinces.
