Accordingly, the program included many practical activities, such as visiting and presenting gifts to seven units, 40 policy families and needy fishermen in the locality; awarding 27 scholarships to disadvantaged students with good learning outcomes; giving away 5,500 notebooks, 50 gifts and 14 bicycles to other needy students as well as disseminating information on Vietnam’s seas and islands to local people.
On the same day, an art performance with the participation of 18 relevant organs and units in praise of patriotism in general and heroic naval troops in particular, and to raise the awareness of the importance of national sovereignty safeguarding, was also held.
Last year, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command launched the model in far-off island communes and districts with the aim of supporting fishermen in conducting legal fishing while cooperating with authorities to protect the national maritime sovereignty.
