Earlier, a fishing trawler numbered PY 92549 TS, captained by Do Nhu Qua from Ward 6, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province, with 10 crew-members on board, was fishing near the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands.

Suddenly, at 7 a.m. on January 12, fisherman Do Nhu Duc, aged 29 from Ward 6, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province, was severely wounded in his left leg while repairing the trawler’s engine.

At 8:40 p.m. the same day, the medical staff from the Truong Sa townlet Medical Center received the victim, provided him with first aid, and gave him seven stitches. After the patient was in a stable health condition, the medical staff offered medicines and took him to his trawler at 10 p.m.

During the rescue mission, medical personnel strictly followed COVID-19 prevention and control regulations.

* On January 13, in Khanh Hoa province, the Truong Sa Islands-based Logistic and Technical Maintenance Center of Flotilla 129 under Saigon Military Port successfully fixed the rudder of trawler KH 97326 TS.

According to Captain Vu Hoang Tung, Commanding Officer of the center, trawler KH 97326 TS experienced rudder problems while fishing on the traditional fishing ground of Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province on the morning of January 13.

Aware of the fact that the rudder will soon be broken, the trawler’s captain contacted the center. At 12 p.m. the same day, the trawler came to dock safely at the Logistic and Technical Maintenance Center for repairs.

After four hours, the rudder was fixed and reassembled. At 5 p.m., trawler KH 97326 TS left the center to continue fishing.

Together with fixing the rudder, the center also presented 2,000 liters of fresh water, eight life jackets and 10 national flags to on-board crew-members, and distributed leaflets with information about the Government’s missions and measures to prevent and combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

While repairing the trawler, the center’s staff conducted COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures.

Trawler KH 97326 TS, captained by Phan Hanh from Ninh Thuy ward, Ninh Hoa district, Khanh Hoa province, had nine fishermen on board.
