Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Hoai, Commanding Officer of Bat Xat district's Military Command, reported that heavy rains and thunderstorms on the night of June 4 caused significant damages to the lives and property of people in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province.

Particularly, five houses in the communes of Quang Kim, Ban Qua, Ban Vuoc, and Muong Vi were submerged. Dozens of hectares of crops, seven fish ponds belonging to local residents, and several public constructions were damaged.

Two individuals, a Dao ethnic mother and her child in Hamlet 1, Ban Vuoc commune, Bat Xat district, were believed to be missing due to the floods. The mother was Ly Thi Nghiep, 30 years old, and her son was Ly Bao Nam, 2 years old.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Hoai stated that upon receiving the information, Bat Xat district's Military Command promptly advised the district's Steering Board for Natural Disasters Prevention and Control to instruct the people's committees of communes and townlets to immediately implement disaster prevention measures.

Bat Xat district's Military Command also advised local authorities on traffic diversion and handling flooded areas, deploying forces ready to respond to any situations.

In addition, more than 400 troops from the district's armed forces actively participated in the search for the missing persons.
