Troops help locals stamp out forest fire
PANO - At 20:15 on March 10, a forest fire in Vinh Gia border commune, Tri Ton district, An Giang province was contained.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Thanh, Head of the Vinh Gia Border Post under the An Giang provincial Border Guard Command on March 11 said that, troops of the unit, in collaboration with other forces, stamped out a forest fire on the previous day.
Earlier, they received information about a blaze broke out in Melaleuca forest in Vinh Gia border commune. Immediately, the Vinh Gia Border Post sent 20 troops to the scene, in coordination with local militiamen and public security to extinguish the fire.
It took the rescuers around five hours to completely put out the fire. It was estimated that about 2.5 hectare of the Melaleuca forest and 50 coconut trees were burned down.
The border post continued to work with the local authorities to help the locality overcome consequences of the fire.
