Troops help extinguish three forest fires
PANO – Units of Military Regions 3 and 4 and the Air Defense-Air Force Service have helped local people extinguish three forest blazes, announced the Department of Search and Rescue of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on July 7.
Earlier, at 12:00 on July 5, a blaze broke out in 15 hectares of forest in Khe Lau village, Nam Kim commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. The Military Region 4 and Nghe An Provincial Military Commands mobilized 376 people, including 131 troops and 80 militiamen, and nine vehicles to put out the fire. By the afternoon of July 7, the fire was under control.
At 10:00 am on July 6, a blaze started in 4 hectares of the pine forest in Tinh Huc commune, Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province. The Provincial Military Command and local authorities mobilized 370 people, including 140 troops, to put out the fire until 1:30 pm the same day.
Regiment 257 of Division 361 of the Air Defense-Air Force Service quickly mobilized 115 troops to team up with local firefighters to extinguish a fire on 2 hectares of the forest in Van Phai commune, Pho Yen district, Thai Nguyen province, at 2:00pm on July 6.
