On the Khmer traditional New Year Festival - Chol Chnam Thmay, a mission of the Military Command of Tra Cu district visited and handed over gifts to Ba Cum pagoda, Ngoc Bien commune. To create closeness, trust, and mutual understanding, on the annual traditional festivals such as Chol Chnam Thmay, Sene Dolta, or Ooc Om Boc, officers and soldiers of the command regularly share happiness with local people.

Tra Vinh province has more than 310,000 Khmer people or 31,5% of its population. Tra Cu district is home to the largest number of Khmer residents in the province. At present, a large number of households in Tra Cu is still facing difficult conditions. Colonel Truong Van Tham, Political Commissar of the Tra Vinh provincial Military Command, shared that following policies of strengthening mass mobilization work for ethnic minority and religious people, so far, local armed forces have cooperated with local authorities and relevant agencies to organize mass mobilization working groups to tighten the relationship with localities. As a result, the units can grasp and forecast the situation for further response if needed.

Taking internal strength as the core, since 2012, Tra Vinh armed forces have participated in building new-style rural areas in 27 out of 85 communes in the province. Up to now, there are 26 out of 27 communes recognized to meet this standard, of which one commune has achieved the newly-set advanced standard. The armed forces of Tra Vinh province have also registered and implemented 33 models of mass mobilization work, focusing on socio-economic and cultural development, defense, and social order to build a strong locality.
