At the partnership signing ceremony between border posts and a local company to boost local economic development

Thanh Hoa province has five districts, one town, and 15 communes in the land border areas. It also has one commune in the buffer zone with 52 border villages adjacent to Houaphanh province of Laos. In the sea border area, the province has four districts, one town, one city with 43 communes, wards and 169 villages and residential areas. The Muong, Thai, H’mong, Kho Mu, Dao ethnic minority groups living in the border areas account for 13% of the total population of the province.

In actualizing the master plan and national target program for the 2021-2030 period with the first phase of the 2021-2025 period, this year, the officers and soldiers of the Thanh Hoa Border Guard Command have actively participated in socio-economic development activities, assisted local people in eliminating hunger and reducing poverty. They have instructed ethnic minority groups in border areas to produce, grow trees and raise animals to stabilize and enrich their life. They have contributed 2,630 working days to repairing village roads, dredging irrigation canals, harvesting corn and cassava, and planting 10,700 fruit trees and timber trees of all kinds.

The Border Post of Na Meo International Border Gate joins hands with other units to upgrade a kindergarten in Na Meo commune. 

Attentively, it has assigned its affiliated units, including Tan Chung, Pu Nhi, and Trung Ly border posts to teaming up with a local company to develop the high yield cassava planting model in Muong Lat district. Other effective models such as goat and boar raising, sturgeon farming, Docynia indica planting have been upheld and developed to raise socio-cultural and economic life of local people, contributing to the building of new-style rural areas in the stationed localities and the defense of national border sovereignty and security in the new situation, as well as the building of the all-people’s border posture.

Apart from the above models, the provincial Border Guard Command has well implemented the program “Military officers and soldiers paving the way to school for children” in the 2021-2025 period. Accordingly, it has given support to 219 students. In the “Paving the way to school for children - Adopted children of border post” program, the command’s border posts have adopted 101 kids. Among them, ten students are from Laos, and eight others are being taken care of at border posts with the support of VND 500,000 per child a month.

Besides maintaining the operation of two military-civilian clinics, the command has also directed its affiliated units to work with local medical stations to disseminate information about disease prevention and conduct vaccination programs.

Moreover, the command has joined programs to provide free health check-ups and medicines to local people and its troops have donated hundreds of blood units to save patients.
