PANO - A delegation of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Ministry of National Defense (MND), led by Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, visited former Deputy Defense Ministers Senior Lieutenant Generals Phan Trung Kien and Tran Don and their relatives on July 11.

Visiting the two former defense leaders, Sr. Lt. Gen. Vo Minh Luong expressed his gratitude for their contribution to the cause of national liberation, defense and construction and the military building over the past time; and informed them about the outstanding performance of the whole military in the first six months of this year.

In detail, in the first half of the year, the CMC and MND directed the whole military to comprehensively accomplish assigned missions; forecast and evaluated the situations and gave timely advice to the Party and State to deal with issues related to military and defense affairs, contributing to firmly safeguarding the Fatherland. Meanwhile, the whole military strictly observed combat readiness regulations and actively participated in preventing and controlling natural disasters and carrying out search and rescue operations.

Gen. Luong hoped that the former leaders would continue to follow the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) development and contribute constructive opinions to building a stronger VPA.

On the same day, Sr. Lt. Gen. Vo Minh Luong visited and offered incense in tribute to late Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Thanh Cung and Lt. Gen. Nguyen Thoi Bung, former Deputy Defense Ministers.
