Earlier, at 4:00 on February 3, the trawler, numbered NA-93704 TS, captained by Le Duc Tuong from Hoang Mai town, Nghe An province, suddenly caught on fire while fishing about 10 nautical miles east-northeast of Ron Island. The crew members on board had to jump into the sea to escape.
After receiving the information, the Cua Sot Border Guard Station sent a ship and troops as well as medical staff to the scene for a rescue mission.
After more than 6 hours, the ship reached the troubled trawler, gave the distressed fishermen first aid, and then took all of the fishermen to Cua Sot fishing port, Loc Ha district, Nghe An province.
At present, all of the crew members are in stable condition.
