Naval troops support fishermen in Binh Thuan province
PANO – The Naval Region 4 Command, in coordination with the Binh Thuan provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Hung Long ward’s authorities, held the “Naval troops stand by fishermen” program on June 17.
Addressing the event, the unit’s Deputy Political Commissar Naval Captain La Van Hung underscored that over the past time, along with firmly protecting the national sovereignty over sea and islands, the region has always coordinated and closely worked with local authorities and residents to actively support fishermen to operate at sea.

Providing health check-ups and medicines to local people |
During the program, the region provided free health check-ups and medicines, disseminated information about laws, presented national flags and life jackets, and handed over 100 gifts to local fishermen. The activities showed the care of the naval troops to fishermen in the province.

Deputy Director of the Binh Thuan provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Chien affirmed that this was a meaningful program which contributed to helping Binh Thuan fishermen safely operate at sea, while deepening ties between naval troops and fishermen, and encouraging them to take part in the cause of protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands as well as socio-economic development.
On this occasion, the delegation presented 150 life jackets, 1,000 national flags, distributed more than 1,000 sets of documents related to legal fishing, and provided free health check-ups and medicines to more than 100 fishermen, worth totally VND 100 million.
