General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and Defense Minister, on July 26 visited former Party General Secretary Do Muoi and General Le Duc Anh, former Politburo member, former State President and former Defense Minister, at Military Central Hospital 108.
On behalf of the CMC, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and troops in the whole military, General Lich wished General Le Duc Anh good health. He also expressed his hope that General Le Duc Anh would continue making contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party, State and to the building of an increasingly powerful Vietnam People’s Army so that the mission of building and firmly protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam would be successfully fulfilled.
Having been briefed on the health of General Duc Anh and former Party General Secretary Do Muoi by the hospital’s cadres, General Lich hailed their efforts in taking care of senior officers of the Party, State and the military in general and General Duc Anh and former Party General Secretary Do Muoi in particular.
General Lich also asked the hospital staff to continue promoting their achievements, overcome difficulties to fulfill all assigned tasks in the time to come.

Incense offered to fallen soldiers |
* On July 26, the youth union members in the whole military offered incense at 1,548 war cemeteries nationwide. In addition, over 3,000 talks and exchanges under the theme “Gratitude to national contributors” were also held. The military youth joined hands to build houses, present saving books, provide free health checkups and medicines to national contributors. The total cost of these activities reaches more than VND 10 billion.
* The Signal Corps Command the same day held a get-together for wounded soldiers’ and martyrs’ relatives working at the unit. On this occasion, the corps’ affiliates held many gratitude activities, such as building eight gratitude and comradeship houses, presenting savings books, donating rice for poor households and national contributors, raising gratitude fund among troops, paying tribute to war martyrs, visiting and presenting gifts to wounded soldiers’, war martyrs’ relatives and national contributors in localities at a total cost of VND 275 million.
* On July 26, the Yen Bai provincial Military Command presented 24 gifts to wounded soldiers’ and war martyrs’ relatives who are now serving the military. On this occasion, the command presented 21 gifts to national contributors in Phan Thanh commune and Vietnamese heroic mothers in the locality. In addition, six war martyrs’ children and 18 Vietnamese heroic mothers also received gifts from the State President, the MND and Military Region 2. The unit also raised VND 200 million for the gratitude fund to support national contributors.
* The same day, the Artillery Corps of the Vietnam People's Army offered incense at Nhon War Cemetery, Mai Dich Cemetery and Co Nhue memorial monument of war martyrs. During the program, the corps visited and presented gifts to seven Vietnamese heroic mothers in Quang Tri province. In addition, military units also presented 64 gifts to wounded soldiers’ and war martyrs’ relatives, gave free health checkups and medicines, worth totally over VND 200 million, to 300 national contributors.
* The Engineer Corps organized many practical activities in celebration of the Day for Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs. Accordingly, the corps built gratitude houses, visited and presented gifts, worth nearly VND 300 million, to sick and wounded soldiers at the Convalescent Center in Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province. Additionally, its affiliates also worked with the local authorities to offer incense to war martyrs and provided free health checkups and medicines for more than 100 national contributors.
* Army Officer Training College 1 coordinated with the local authorities to give free health checkups and medicines and present gifts for over 1,000 national contributors in five communes in Hanoi and Hoa Binh province. The school also supported VND 30 million to Mrs. Do Thi Tam, visited and presented gifts at the Convalescent Center for sick and wounded soldiers in Duy Tien district (Ha Nam).
In addition, the unit’s leaders also inquired after and presented gifts to 10 national contributors and handed over five savings books to five outstanding national contributors.
* Also, the Commando Corps supported the building of three comradeship houses for needy officers and gratitude houses for two national contributors in Dak Lak province. They also presented 120 gifts, at a total cost of VND 120 million, to national contributors in Hanoi, Dak Lak and Ninh Thuan provinces.
