During the resistance war against foreign invaders, people and armed forces in An Giang province made great contributions to the national unification and liberation cause.
Currently, the province has over 40,000 policy beneficiaries and national contributors, including nearly 10,000 fallen troops, over 5,900 wounded soldiers, and 749 Vietnamese heroic mothers.
During the meeting, General Can inquired after and presented gifts to the policy beneficiaries while updating them on military activities as well as gratitude work over the past time.
According to the General, since early this year, the whole military has built over 570 gratitude houses at a total cost of VND 35.6 billion, taken care of 1,853 Vietnamese heroic mothers, presented 40 saving books, and gave free health checkups and medicines to over 46,100 people.
Especially, over the past days, due to severe consequences of the flooding that has caused losses for people in the Central region, the MND directed its affiliated units in Military Region 4 to send troops and vehicles to implement search and rescue missions. Unfortunately, 33 officers and soldiers were killed in landslides during these rescue tasks.
Concluding the event, General Can expressed his hope that the delegates would continue promoting revolutionary traditions, contributing to local development.
