Gifts presented to Quang Phuc and Quang Tho Secondary Schools |
Nguyen Tuong Lam, Member of the Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee; Senior Colonel Tran Van Xuan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command; representatives of agencies under the General Department of Political Affairs, chains-of-command of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command’s affiliates, provincial Border Guard Command, Quang Binh province and Ba Don town leaders attended the event.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Senior Colonel Tran Van Rong, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, emphasized the aim of the program was to raise local people’s awareness of observing the Party’s guidelines, the State laws; and each cadre’s, Youth Union member’s, student’s, and person’s awareness of their responsibilities to act for the national sea and islands and for a strong all people’s defense disposition.

Colonel Rong also stressed that apart from arousing the spirit of mutual affection, mutual love, care, and sharing of material and spiritual difficulties with border people and islanders, the program is expected to help tighten solidarity, close-knit ties between troops and people, create an atmosphere of solidarity, joy and excitement for participating agencies, units and localities to fulfill all the assigned tasks, and contribute to maintaining political security, social order and safety in the localities and to building and firmly defending the Fatherland.
The highlights of the program were paying tribute to General Vo Nguyen Giap at his tomb in Vung Chua - Yen Island, launching the “I love national sea and islands” contest, presenting gifts to policy beneficiaries, disadvantaged fishermen, and needy students with good academic records, disseminating the Vietnam Coast Guard Law, Fisheries Law, and fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

The organizers also provided local fishermen with medical equipment, facemasks, antiseptic water, and national flags.
They also launched a summer volunteer youth campaign and “Joining hands in cleaning the sea – For a green Vietnam” program.
Apart from the aforementioned gifts, the organizers also presented two TV sets, 50 bikes, 100 gifts, 50 scholarships, 2,000 copies of handbook on the Vietnam Coast Guard Law, Youth Law, national flags, antiseptic water, facemasks, medicine bags to schools, students and fishermen in Ba Don town.
