It is nearly 20 nautical miles from the mainland of Quang Ngai province and over 100 nautical miles from the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago under the jurisdiction of Da Nang city.

During peak fishing seasons, numerous offshore fishing vessels from provinces, such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Hue city travel to operate in Ly Son waters.

The island has a wharf for vessels to take shelter from storms, offers fuel supply services, an ice production plant, ship repair workshops, and seafood purchasing centers and other services. These make Ly Son a strong logistics hub for offshore fishing in the East Sea. On the island, Ly Son Border Post and other functional agencies have promoted information dissemination to raise fishermen’s awareness of not infringing on foreign waters and strictly complying with fisheries regulations.

Below are some views on Ly Son Island and fisheries activities.
